Muy Bueno Cookbook Hot Off the Press + Book Tour + Giveaway
***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to the bottom to see who won!***
It’s the big day, the day we thought would never arrive, but it’s finally here! Muy Bueno Cookbook has been printed — it’s breathtaking and mouth-watering. With our Latin fusion recipes, our mother’s traditional south of the border home-style dishes, and our grandmother’s old world northern Mexican cuisine, we have a collection of recipes that make up the heart and soul of our homes.
We couldn’t be more proud and excited! This has been a long journey and a true labor of love. Over the last two years we have labored over the food styling, every photo, every story, and making sure that the recipes were easy to follow. Choosing recipes was tough but we decided on sharing the recipes that carry a special sentiment, anecdote, or family tradition and we hope you will come to love them as much as we do.
We could not have done this without the eyes and ears of our awesome team at Hippocrene Books. Priti, Colette, Barbara, and David, thank you, thank you, thank you, for believing in us and guiding us every step of the way. To Jeanine, our beautiful photographer, inside and out, your photos will live forever in our family and our hearts. And thank you to all of our supportive family and friends.
We also want to thank you our readers, all your heartfelt comments on our blog and Facebook page gave us the willpower to keep going on days when we thought we couldn’t. So today we celebrate with you — here, there, and all over the blogosphere. We are so thrilled that we just have to do a giveaway. Yes, we are giving away three cookbooks signed by all three of us. Winners look for your copy soon after Thanksgiving.
But wait that’s not all, we are especially excited about the up and coming book signings, brief readings, and cooking demonstrations spanning across three different states: Colorado, California, and Texas. We finally get to come out and meet you all. As we pop open a bottle of tequila today, in celebration of our labor of love, we raise our sipping glass to each and every one of you who have supported our blog, facebook ramblings, tweets, fiestas, taste-testing events, and now our cookbook. We look forward to seeing both familia and amigos at one of our stops in the southwest.

Which recipe to pick? It is really hard for me to decide between the Rolled Taquitos with Ground Beef or the Capirotada because both vividly remind me of my childhood growing up in the Hatch/Las Cruces /El Paso area. Who doesn’t love Chico’s and who can forget have delicious Capirotada during Lent? I can smell the both as I write…
The best part is that recipes are born from rich family traditions and they personally take me back to the area I grew up in , back to my own family memories , gatherings and heritage . Crazy for this güera to feel so much like a Latina? I grew up from age 4 within the Nevarez family-my stepdad’s family- and they are a big part of my childhood and influenced me heavily. From speaking Spanish, to craving fideos, papas, frijoles and arroz, that is what I know and where I find my comfort in life.
All the recipes make me smile and I am so proud that someone has captured the flavors and traditions of that region in a way that honors the people that are definitely the heart and soul of that area!
I would love to get a signed book. I have shared your recipes with my family and friends, through Facebook and they are all fans now. I will try to visit you on your tour in Culver city. One of my favorite recipes is the fresh peach crisp.

Greetings! I just came across your blog today, and I LOVE IT!! I can’t wait to get the book!! I am a Hispanic women with 3 girls that are half dutch and Hispanic. I was never taught Spanish or anything. Mostly because my mother was teased growing up because she spoke Spanish and had an accent. But times have changed a bit, and my girls have an opportunity to be in a Spanish immersion School, and I have been trying so hard to find good authentic recipes to share with them. Our community is predominantly Dutch, But I want to teach them recipes from my culture. A couple years ago we started making tamales together around the Holidays, and I vaguely remember my grandma making pumpkin Empanadas. So that will be our next tradition to implement. 🙂 Thank you so much!
