A traditional paloma cocktail consists of grapefruit soda, lime juice, and tequila. My recipe includes sweet peaches for a delicious summer variation on a classic combination.
Rub rim of a glass with a lime wedge. Pour some raw sugar or coarse salt out onto a plate and rub the rim of the glass in the sugar or salt to coat.
In a punch bowl, filled with ice, combine peach juice, tequila, lime juice, and grapefruit soda; stir well. Garnish with slices of peaches, limes, and grapefruit.
Serve in rimmed glass filled with ice.
Garnish with a wedge of lime, grapefruit, or peach.
Notes
Freeze citrus. Freeze lime and grapefruit slices to chill punch.
Taste and adjust. Taste and adjust to find the perfect balance of flavors you love. If you prefer a stronger paloma, add an extra splash of tequila.
If it’s too strong, let the ice melt. If your paloma tastes too strong, let it sit in ice to dilute or add an extra splash of grapefruit soda to your glass.
Grapefruit soda. If you cannot find Squirt, Jarritos, and Fresca are grapefruit sodas that are easy to find. For a stronger grapefruit flavor, try a craft soda like Izze.
No grapefruit soda? Substitute with 2 cups of grapefruit juice and 2 cups of sparkling water.
Smaller portion. If you don’t want to make 12 servings, you can easily make this in a pitcher and halve the recipe.
