Giving Thanks and Festive Ideas
As you know I love to cook but what you might not know is that I love to entertain and decorate. I’m kind of addicted to props and DIY projects.
When Target reached out and asked me what I’d be doing for the holidays I was excited to tell them that I was not planning to travel and will be relaxing and enjoying the holidays at home. Usually we are traveling to either El Paso to visit my mom or Boise to visit my in-laws. But this year, my mom will be here for Thanksgiving and my in-laws will be visiting for Christmas. As a fan of Target I was honored when they asked me to share my experience as I prepare for and celebrate the holidays.
Since Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks, I wanted to be sure to make the time to say thank you. I am so thankful to my family and friends. And so very thankful to all Muy Bueno fans (readers and sponsors). Gracias!
During Thanksgiving my goal is to write and send lots of thank you cards. Please tell me I’m not the only one slacking off when it comes to writing thank you cards. There have been many people who have supported me, and its time for me to thank them in written words, homemade gifts, and tell them how truly appreciative I am.
These ornaments were calling my name. Holiday painted skull ornaments at Target? Yes, please! It was a sign – the perfect thank you gift to give to all the mothers of the children who participated in the Dia de los Muertos celebration video. I’m all about easy wrapping and these simple kraft bags with holiday tissue paper gave them the perfect touch I was look for.
I’ve always wanted a bar cart and have been eying this gold one from Target for months. I’m ready to entertain for the holidays. The white reindeer sipping drinks is also from Target. I could not resist this white little Vixen – I have a thing for reindeers. And this garland burlap banner makes it so merry. Who wants a calientito, glass of wine, or sip of tequila?
I hosted a small cookie swap and before everyone left we packaged mason jars filled with biscochos and decorated the jars with a festive tag and simple rustic twine. Speaking of mason jars I will be sharing more homemade gift ideas that you can put in a jar.
Don’t forget to decorate your kitchen. This glittery gold Joy Christmas decoration and deer make lovely countertop décor. No one will be able to resist these tempting homemade pumpkin empanadas.
I love the simplicity of these kitchen towels. Not too Christmassy and will look festive throughout the holidays.
Have you heard the story about The Elf on the Shelf? I was hesitant to buy one because I didn’t want to scare my little guy. Come to find out my 6-year old is absolutely in love with him. He named him Jack Bacon (hysterical, I know). He is fascinated with his nightly adventures. My daughter on the other hand who is 12-years old is freaked out with his shenanigans. He is such a funny addition to our home. I encourage you to buy one for your family.
Please stay tuned — I have lots more treasures from Target I look forward to sharing with you. If you need homemade Christmas gift and decorative ideas hopefully you’ll find something here that will inspire you and make your holidays a little cheerier.
Disclosure: A special thanks to Target for sponsoring this post.
