I think we can all agree that we have great intentions at the start of every new year. Every year I commit to eating more fruits and veggies. But sometimes they spoil in the fridge or countertop before I can get to them.

Smoothie Freezer Pack and 4 Recipes

These frozen smoothie packs are a great way to eliminate food waste and meal-prep by prepping smoothie freezer packs.

In the mornings, all I have to do is take out a bag from the freezer and blend it with water or milk.

Can you freeze kale and spinach?

Yes, you can freeze greens and herbs! Freezing greens does not have any effect on flavor, texture, or nutrients when frozen.

Chia Seeds and Flax Seeds

I have mason jars on my countertop filled with chia seeds and ground flax seed for my smoothies. Both chia and flax seeds are rich in a variety of nutrients. Sprinkle a teaspoon to any of your smoothies before blending or add them to your smoothie packs before freezing.

Protein Powder

Add a boost of protein to your smoothies. These are some of my favorites: Collagen Powder and Plant-Based Protein.

HOW LONG CAN YOU FREEZE SMOOTHIE PACKS?

If stored properly in Ziploc freezers bags, these freezer packs will last 1 month in the freezer. Either thaw the night before or blend straight from the freezer.

Liquid for smoothies

For these smoothie packs, place the frozen ingredients into a blender, along with liquid of choice (water, coconut water, cashew milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or juice). Feel free to also add yogurt, almond butter, or honey.

High power blender

If blending straight from the freezer, be sure to use a high-powered blender. You might also need to add a little more liquid to help blend frozen produce. I can’t live without my Blendtec.

HOW TO MAKE SMOOTHIE FREEZER PACKS

Simply place all the ingredients, except the liquid, inside a plastic bag and freeze until ready to use.

  • 1-quart Ziploc freezers bags to make individual portions
  • Cut all produce including bananas into smaller pieces to make it easier to blend when frozen
  • Label freezer bags with ingredients
  • Use either fresh or frozen fruit to make your freezer packs
