It’s rare when my hubby and I can agree on a TV show we both like, but when Game of Thrones premiered we were excited to finally watch something that piqued both of our interests.

My husband loves the characters, story line, and action, and understands the show far better than I do, because he’s read all the books.

And to be completely honest – I’m more about the costumes and cinematography. I’m obsessed with Daenerys and her dragons. I love her elegance, her hair, and her outfits.

This cocktail is inspired by good and evil – the evil queen Cersei and the mother of dragons Daenerys.

This tropical margarita is made with dragon fruit, an exotic cactus fruit that has a texture and flavor similar to kiwi and a mild melon combined with tequila and fresh lime and mandarin juice. This drink separates quickly — don’t let the look turn you off, because the flavor combination is out of this world.

Have you ever seen a dragon fruit before? It is one of the most unique fruits out there. The exterior is bright fuchsia and the interior is milky white speckled with black seeds. Their creamy yet very mild flavor makes this ingredient great for adding a creamy texture to a drink without an over whelming flavor.

Garnished with a kiwano melon, also known as a horned melon – the flavor of the slimy green interior is a cross between a cucumber and a zucchini, pretty bland if you ask me, but it makes for a creepy and awesome garnish!

Beware: I’m obviously geeking out in this blog post below, sorry. Also, please excuse the violence in these videos – this show is not for the faint of heart.

The white dress Daenerys is wearing in this episode and silver dragon neckpiece reminds of this drink. I always love when her dragons come to her rescue. Especially when the Sons of the Harpy attack an arena in Meereen and Daenerys is surrounded, but her dragon, Drogon, comes to rescue her and she flies away from the chaotic battle.

The green color of the horned melon I used in this cocktail reminds me of the green ‘wildfire’ in this episode when Cersei blows up the Sept (place of worship). Do you all remember that episode? A candle reaches its end and the room full of wildfire ignites and explodes beneath the Sept, destroying it and sending green flame through the streets of King’s Landing and Cersei ends the episode with a creepy smile at the sight.

And how cool is this dragon wing glass? I was instantly inspired when I spotted it at the renaissance festival. If you think its cool as much as I do you can order one here.
