Me + Video Camera = horrified! I am not one to shy away from a still-camera but a video camera…Ay Cucuy! I’m trembling as I type this post thinking about demonstrating my cooking in front of a camera. Why am I torturing myself you ask? I’d like to submit a video cooking my mothers’ famous Green Enchilada recipe for the first-ever Go Auténtico Mexican Cook-Off Challenge.
Cacique and Chef Aarón Sánchez will review the recipe submissions and select four contestants who will compete in New York City on the nationally televised Cacique Go Auténtico Challenge hosted at Chef Sánchez’s restaurant, Centrico. Chef Sánchez and a panel of guest judges will evaluate the contestant’s entrée and judge them on taste, effective use of Cacique products, dish presentation, and creativity of authentic Mexican and Latin-inspired dishes.
The grand prize winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to Napa Valley, California and a five day Culinary Boot Camp Vacation at the Culinary Institute of America.
Doesn’t it all sound dreamy? Now it’s time for me to practice! Rather than, drinking, singing, and dancing in the kitchen like I normally do; I’ll have to turn off the music and practice narrating as I cook. I have two fears: 1) my very loud nervous laugh, and 2) crying uncontrollably in the middle of chopping an onion. The more I think about it, the more I realize I’ll have to drink a shot (or two) of tequila before the camera turns on and just hope for the best.
I don’t know exactly where the video will end up, but I will certainly post it for your viewing pleasure. When you see it please try to keep your laughter to a minimum.
